The Advisory Service for Squatters provides a variety of Legal Warnings that squatters may choose to put up in a visible place on their new home.
These aren’t a requirement of squatting, and only serve as a reminder of what the law already states. Sometimes referred to as Squatters’ Rights, these pieces of paper outline which laws protect the squatters’ occupation of the empty property. There are different applicable parts of law depending on the circumstances, hence the few different variations below.
The most commonly-used one is the Non-Residential Legal Warning, explaining why the occupation of the property does not contravene Section 144 of LASPO, generally known as the criminalisation of residential squatting.
Here you can also find legal warnings for pubs, due to their mixed-use nature, sites, and we’ve even included the old legal warning pre-2012, often referred to as a Section 6.
